Wet your pet with water. Place a line of standard salt along the pet's spine. Rub the salt all over the pet's body. Count to 45; then, wash away the dead fleas and ticks; as well as their eggs.
I created this technique in the 1980s. It is extremely reliable and efficient; as well as safe. It will make the fur have split ends. Just use Hair conditioner or shampoo.
